Dragon Boat
Google Doodle
A project based on an event from my birthplace of Montgomery, Alabama, depicting a dragon boat from the city's annual Dragon Boat Festival.
Final Illustration
The original illustration was created in Adobe Illustrator. It felt natural turning the dragon boat itself into the Google design, having the "G" serve as the front with the head while the "E" forms the tail, and the remaining letters sit in the middle with color-coordinated paddles, rowing away toward the finish line.
Animated Illustration
The animated illustration, finalized in Adobe After Effects, creating a clean one-second looping animation as the dragon boat rocks back and forth while the paddling letters row forward against the waves.
MOCK UPS
Mocked up versions of the illustration depicting how it would appear on Google.
